Karuna Society currently has 25 permanent resident cats, rescued from difficult circumstances. Several of them have physical and emotional issues which would make it difficult for them to survive on their own, outside. Thanks to kind financial aid from Help Animals India and other donors, the cats have a safe and peaceful life with us!
Here are our 100 ‘wild herd’ cattle (including 40 buffalo) preparing to go out into the forest to graze. Most have been with us for 10-15 years, rescued from illegal slaughter. Four attendants make sure they get fresh grass in the forest, and supplementary food in the evening. Their lives are now safe and comfortable.

With the ongoing help of our wonderful animal-loving donors, in March 2023 we could treat 113 animals and administered 855 treatments, including admitting 12 animals as inpatients. From February 27 to March 1, 2023 three of our staff attended a ‘Zoo Keepers Training’ conducted at Bannerghatta Zoo in Karnataka, through the Central Zoo Authority. Recently a well-wisher noticed a paralysed puppy left outside a local orphanage, and brought her to us. Dolly is now a permanent resident, and definitely she is very photogenic!
