Sympathy Without Responsibility – An Abandoned Dog

We would like to clearly explain our policy so there is no misunderstanding.

Karuna Society for Animals and Nature provides rescue and permanent shelter only for local dogs within the Puttaparthi Municipality. Due to limited space and resources, it is not possible for us to provide permanent shelter to animals from all over.

However, free treatment is available for animals from anywhere, as long as they are brought to our clinic. Once the animal recovers, the responsibility of taking the animal back lies with the people who brought it.

In this particular case, a dog from Anantapur (ATP) met with an accident and suffered injuries to both front legs and one hind leg. The dog was already taken to a local vet in ATP. Later, photos were sent to the Karuna Helpline, and we were pressurised to keep the dog permanently.

We clearly informed them via text message that:

We can provide free treatment

We cannot keep the dog permanently

They must take the dog back after recoveryWe never received any response after this.

Two days later, while our Secretary was passing through a street in Puttaparthi, he found the same dog abandoned on the road, still wearing the same old bandages. The dog had been dumped irresponsibly.

Seeing the condition of that poor soul, we brought the dog back to our clinic. Unfortunately, due to severe infection and neglect, one leg had to be amputated. Thankfully, the other injured leg healed with proper care.

This is the painful reality of fake animal lovers who show sympathy online but refuse to take responsibility and choose to abandon innocent lives.
