GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Any suspected Rabies case from any location will be admitted for observation and necessary action (for public safety).
2. Severe cases (accidents or other causes) will be admitted as inpatient – but ONLY from Puttaparthi Mandal.
3. Contagious Diseases (Parvo, Hepatitis, Distemper): Dogs with these conditions will not be accepted as in-patients, as they pose a serious risk to other animals. Owners/caretakers can bring the animal for treatment to the OPD 2 times daily.
4. General Cases like small accidents, skin problems, rescues, vaccinations will be handled only during Karuna’s working hours: 10 am to 1 pm and 3 to 5 pm.
OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT POLICY (OPD)
…for animal owners/caretakers who seek treatment or support.
In order to maintain transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the services we provide, the following rules are to be strictly enforced!
1. Aadhaar Card Requirement:
–All individuals seeking treatment for animals must present a copy of their Aadhaar Card, cell phone number and address. This is mandatory for registration and availing of services.
2. Treatment Guidelines:
–Street Animals (e.g., stray dogs, cats, birds etc.,): Treatment is provided free of charge.
–Pet Animals:
* Owners are requested to make a voluntary donation for treatment.
* If no donation is made, only basic first aid will be administered. A prescription will be provided, and pet owners may purchase the required medications externally.
3. Donation Handling: All collected donations must be submitted to the office within one hour of collection.
4. Photographic Documentation: A photo of the animal must be taken upon arrival and departure, as part of the treatment record.
The decision to admit an animal as inpatient – or permanent care or euthanesia will be taken by the management and is final. The owner/caretaker needs to sign a paper and will need to take the animal back in case of recovery.
