Orange Cat with Healing Wound

This sweet orange cat came to Karuna several years ago as part of a special rescue. We had agreed to take in 24 cats who were under the care of an elderly Italian lady who, with a heavy heart, needed to return to her home country.

Last year, this little one began scratching excessively and unfortunately developed a severe wound infested with maggots. We treated it immediately and thoroughly, and while the wound mostly healed, a small patch remains open despite our best efforts.

We’ve tried a variety of treatments without lasting success, and are currently using colloidal silver water, which has shown some promise. We suspect the root cause may be a food allergy, and we’re continuing to monitor and explore all options for healing and comfort.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated. Thank you, as always, for caring about our animals.
