We have more than a couple of dozen Black Bucks and Sambar Deer, rescued as injured or orphans and facing sure death in the forest. We have a big compound where they run around free. Our caretakers feed each deer 10kgs of Super Napier grass per day, as well as 4 kgs of a soaked supplement dana of maize, horsegram, groundnut and rice bran powders – along with nutritional supplements. In addition, they are on a deworming schedule of once every three months.
