Many things, big and small, are happening at Karuna Society! Over the last few weeks we stopped the Animal Birth Control (ABC) surgeries, as there is a terrible outbreak of Parvo virus in the area and that makes the surgeries and after care of the dogs a risky business. That created time for maintenance.
The veterinary doctor had advised us to paint the rooms freshly as there are always ticks inside the walls of buildings. It is not nice to expose ABC dogs to these ticks. So, the painters closed all cracks in the walls before painting. On the outside the rooms got a fresh look as well.
Maintenance of the premises is very important for the health of the animals. Unfortunately this is on the bottom of the list of spending available donations. Paying salaries and maintenance expenses are causing sleepless nights to the management. So, Karuna’s President Clementien paid for all expenses as it simply had to be done. Paying into the projects by board members can be done once in a while but it is not possible to run an NGO on the pension of board members.
