Donkey with Tetanus
In April 2009, we received a donkey infected with tetanus in the advanced stages. Thanks to the special care in our in-patient ward it is gradually recovering.

Ahimsa Farm
In March 2009, Karuna Society purchased 18 acres of agricultural land next to its present organic farm. We are grateful to Philip Wollen for his generous donation that enabled us to buy the land. This new land which will be used for growing organic produce for sale in our shop, and fodder for the animals
Cattle/Large Animal Hospital Under Construction
The building for this hospital is under completion and soon it will be fully functional. It admits inpatient cows, bulls, calves, donkeys, ponies and injured goats for treatment and surgery by our specialized veterinary doctor. We even have a camel in our care. Camel Rescued from Slaughter
Raja, a majestic camel, was being paraded in Anantapur for the sale of his meat. Karuna Society was informed and we sprang into action to save him and transport him to our shelter in Enumulapalli. Raja is often taken to the forest for grazing.
ABC Hospital
The construction of the new ABC hospital and kennels was completed in December 2007. ABC surgeries are regularly conducted on street dogs of Puttaparthi and surrounding areas. The Brand New Sita
Sita is one of the most unstoppable dogs currently living at Karuna, but when she got here the things were different for her. With almost 100% of the body covered by a very bad skin problem, she couldn’t even sleep because of the pain. We had to pack her into a big ball, and clean
Out-Patient Clinic
The out-patient clinic was inaugurated in January 2007. Since then it has been receiving at least 15 patients a day, mostly community dogs and some cats.
