Our Permanent Resident Blacky, by Clementien

Our Permanent Resident Blacky, by Clementien: This is Blacky, one of my most favorite permanent dogs at the Karuna Shelter. He came to us when he was a puppy and had met with an accident on the main road in Puttaparthi. His spine and hind legs were severely damaged and his right hind leg had to be amputated. His spine slowly settled and he started to use his other hind leg. He cannot stretch his hind leg to walk correctly but as his shoulders are bearing all the weight, he has become very skilled in hopping around and going wherever he likes.

Whenever he hears my voice when I come into the shelter, he waits patiently and silently behind the gate of the second compound, till I come to give him his dose of my special love and attention. He is not a subtle dog with his feelings – he is very “manly” in his demands for love!
