The lady you see is one of the four that are already working with us for many years, for as long as we have had the cattle and the garden. They share the workload with the cattle herders, as necessary.

This summer, with no garden work, all of them were involved in cattle feeding, preparing the feed, distributing, helping cutting the maize grass with the chaff cutter, cleaning the cattle shed, etc. There is a distinct division in ‘gents work’ and work that ladies do, although they work together.

Now, suddenly we have more work: the garden has to start up again from scratch, the mango garden has to be cleaned and at the new Ahimsa land the soil has to be prepared, peanuts are growing, etc.

Altogether 10 people are working at our land in Karunapalli: rescued cattle, organic garden, mango garden and new Ahimsa land. There are five gents for the cattle and five ladies for the garden and the spirulina. They also help with the production of the Ahimsa products. We pay them a salary and also pay into the pension fund.
