Humane Education on 14 October 2018
On Sunday, 14th October, Karuna’s Vice-President Romula DSilva conducted an interactive session with the children of Happy Home – Puttaparthi from 10 am to 12 pm. On Sunday, 23rd September, a group of 11 German healers visited the Karuna Clinic & shelter. Karuna’s Vice-President, Romula D’Silva, accompanied them and showed them around. Langur Monkey Rescued
In May, Karuna staff was called to a nearby village to rescue a Langur monkey, who we named Gopal. We successfully and safely rescued Gopal and he is now thriving with our other rescued monkeys. The close-up pic was just taken recently.
Simhadri, our Rhesus Macaque Monkey
This is Simhadri, a Rhesus Macaque (endemic to North India) the victim of a “monkey juggler”. He was made to dance for at least 4 years of his life. He is the most notorious and the sweetest of our rescued monkeys! He is very playful and is very fond of the keepers. He always responds

Fundraising Campaign by Elizabeth Tavella

Raja the Fallen Monkey Rescued from the Ashram
In early May we got a call from the nearby Ashram saying that a monkey fell from the fourth floor of one of the buildings. This happened during a thunderstorm with heavy rain. Karuna staff rushed there and saw that the monkey was a baby Bonnet Macaque, merely 5 months old and in a coma-like
Gill the Fostered Squirrel
Gill the squirrel was found orphaned under a tree on April 24th, probably the runt of the litter. Twice we put her back in the nest but her mother kept pushing her out.
