Karuna’s Cattle Rescue Project started in 2002 with the rescue of illegally transported cattle on the way to the slaughterhouse. We still have cows from then – 19 years ago! They were given so many extra years of peaceful life thanks to YOU, our loyal donors. Thank you for supporting our hundreds of rescued cattle!
Several months ago an old female stray dog, who we named ‘Riya,’ was brought to our shelter. She was dehydrated, malnourished and screaming in pain. She was unable to walk and we had to touch her to pick her up for cleaning and treatment – when we did that, she screamed in agony and fear!
This street dog was brought to us by a compassionate citizen. He had gruesome open wounds with maggots crawling inside, on his head and eye. We lovingly cared for him for two months, and he made a miraculous recovery! In the photo is the caring well-wisher who will bring him back to his street area.

This month we stepped up our Animal Birth Control surgeries, and nearly 60 male and female dogs were picked up, sterlised, and returned to their own areas, with anti-rabies vaccinations also.
