Here is Raja, our camel, several days ago! Our large animal caretaker, Narasimhulu, is letting him graze outside thanks to the nice greens growing. Raja was being led to slaughter in 2007, he came all the way from North India and was going to be sacrificed during a festival in the South. Some organs in a camel are not healthy for humans so slaughterhouses have to have special registration to kill camels. Lucky for Raja, the Kadiri police rescued him and handed him over to us. He’s been safe and well cared for here ever since!
