Every year the Painted Storks arrive in large numbers at Veerapuram, a small village on the border of Andhra Pradesh in India. Some of them fall from the trees and need to be rescued or they don’t survive. Every year we rescue, feed and care for many chicks, until they are able to fly back

We received a call from Puttaparthi village, about a rock python in someone’s field. All living creatures in the area, are searching for water. Karuna’s Secretary Narendra went out and helped to rescue the snake, and release it far up in the hills. Karuna’s staff are very devoted – what other organization Secretary would put
Unfortunately, our bore-well in Karunapalli (Ahimsa Farm) has run dry. We desperately need water for our rescued animals and organic garden. We hired a drill to try and tap into ground water. The situation is very critical. Drilling was done in three places, spending over 100,000 rupees.
Two of our rescued doggies Siva (on left) and Soni, share a rare toy! Another long-term resident approaches to join the fun. There are no pet shops for hundreds of miles so toys are rare but still, our residents lovingly share with each other.
