Feeding Our Rescued Animals is a Struggle

๐Ÿ„๐ŸŒพ Feeding Our Rescued Animals is a Struggle ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿ’š

A few years ago, things were not easy. Feeding our cattle had become a struggle – grass was so expensive, and on top of that we had to rent tractors for every little job. By the end of the year, many lakhs of rupees were spent.

Slowly, we started making changes. We got an idea and leased 6 acres of land. During summer, on all 6 acres, we started to plant grass that grows throughout the year, especially in the summer when itโ€™s hardest. In the rainy season, we plant 3 acres with rice for our rescued and disabled dogs, and the other 3 acres with green grass to feed our large animals. We donโ€™t need extra grass because we let the animals out to graze freely in the winter when grass grows in the wild, and nature itself helps us. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ‚

The biggest turning point was buying our own tractor. It wasnโ€™t easy, but once we did it, we saw the difference. No more huge rental costs, just maintenance. Bit by bit, our expenses came down somewhat, but more importantly, the quality of the food and the efficiency getting it to the animals improved.

The most important thing for us is that our animals are healthier and happier with better quality food grown on our own land. Now they get more fresh green grass. We thank @helpanimalsindia for their additional help and support by sending funds for maize grass, which we do not grow AND @marchigtrust for their ongoing support for food and medicines! Feeding our hundreds of rescued and helpless animals is an ongoing struggle, and without your help, we couldn’t do it! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who gives us ongoing support!

This journey taught us something important: growing food to provide for our animals is not just about hard work, itโ€™s about patience, small changes, and faith. Every step we take, no matter how small, brings us closer to stability. And thatโ€™s something we hold close to our hearts. ๐Ÿ’š
