After the water receded and the cleaning up completed, it was time to survey the damage done to houses, roads and bridges.<\/p>\n<p>For Karuna the main problem was the loss of the connecting bridge to Rayalavaripalli village and Karunapalli, where we have 120 rescued cattle and the new wildlife centre under construction. At the clinic in Enumulapalli and at the old wildlife centre there is damage to all constructions: cracks, leaking, etc.<\/p>\n<p>For the moment we have cleared a very old farmer&#8217;s road which takes us through a roundabout detour of 15 kilometres (previously only 5 km) &#8211; but at least we can reach Karunapalli with supplies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karunasociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Rayalavaripalli-Cleaned-Path-2021-12-28-6.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6827\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karunasociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Rayalavaripalli-Cleaned-Path-2021-12-28-6-300x300.jpg?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karunasociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Rayalavaripalli-Cleaned-Path-2021-12-28-2.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6826\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karunasociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Rayalavaripalli-Cleaned-Path-2021-12-28-2-300x300.jpg?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This does not help the local villagers and our staff. Now they have to walk through the river to connect to the next village (vehicles including bicycles cannot pass it). Karuna Society and Rural Development Trust (RDT), along with local villagers, have come together to plan a temporary road to be used until a new bridge is built. This road has to go through the fields and has to be short. As soon as this work starts we will update you on its progress. We have just started clearing and cleaning of the compound and nearby roads.
